Robert F. Deacon
Robert F. Deacon ("Bob") specializes in counseling businesses and individuals with business needs. Growing up in a family that owned a small automobile dealership (www.deaconschrysler.com), Bob gained a great appreciation and understanding of the legal problems facing small and medium-sized businesses. Bob started his career at the Ohio Attorney General's office prosecuting cases of employment discrimination based on age, race, sex, sexual harassment, disability/handicap, national origin, and religious discrimination, on behalf of the State of Ohio and the EEOC. Thereafter, he was recruited by large Cleveland law firms where he specialized in defending businesses faced with employment law issues. Bob has developed an enviable cache of premier clients including Gould, Inc. (Ocean Systems Division), Westinghouse (Naval Systems' Division), Northrop-Grumann Corp., Sea World of Ohio, Six Flags World of Adventure, and has represented hundreds of closely-held companies, family businesses and executives in need of counsel
Bob's close work with management and his successful defense of employers in these cases led to Bob being involved in handling a myriad of other corporate legal issues. These include substantial mergers/acquisitions, business disputes, contractual disputes, labor and contract negotiations, non-compete and trade-secret cases, commerical real estate acqusitions, EPA environmental citations, OSHA safety citations, DOL wage/hour issues, and patent/trademark/intellectual property litigation. He also provides offensive/defensive strategies, "permitting" assistance and "compliance" guidance when dealing with such governmental agencies. Bob has served as a trusted advisor to and has provided outside "in-house" counsel or "general counsel" advisory services regarding the above topics to management at businesses of all sizes, across a wide variety of industries.
Should the need to litigate arise, Bob has extensive litigation experience. He is admitted not only to all state courts in Ohio, but also the Federal Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and multiple Federal District Courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the Eastern District of Michigan, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and multiple Federal Bankruptcy Courts, including those in the State of Delaware, the Northern District of Ohio and the Eastern District of Michigan. He has also conducted mediations and arbitrations across the country. In addition to the wide array of experience helping Northeast Ohio businesses, Bob also provides guidance to clients on more personal issues, including wills/trusts/estates, guardianship, prenuptial agreements as well as real estate transactions.
